Workshop Slides: Extend the Impact of Your Research with Data Reuse

May 29, 2024  |  ECR PI Meeting  |  Arlington, Virginia

Hosted by the ECR-funded PEERS Data Hub at the 2024 ECR PI Meeting, this hands-on workshop explored data reuse and its value. Data reuse refers to the use of data generated by others and is a key component of equitable and reproducible science. Data reuse requires access to high-quality secondary data, but as STEM education researchers, we rarely talk about how to find or create such data.

The workshop identified existing secondary data that researchers can use to extend their ECR projects. Attendees also learned how to ready their own ECR project data for secondary use by others. If you are looking for a way to amplify the impact of your project, making your data widely available for reuse is it! Topics covered included data hubs, repositories, what makes data “fair,” data linkage, how to use AI to create metadata for studies, and more.

The workshop presentation slides are available below.
