To understand, value, and respond to the diversity among funded EDU Core Research (ECR) Principal Investigators (PIs), the ECR Hub invited active ECR PIs to four optional virtual community listening sessions in October 2023. These sessions engaged 91 PIs to inform the interactive activities and content for the 2024 ECR PI Meeting on May 28 –30 in Arlington, Virginia.

On October 25, 2023, the National Science Foundation EDU Core Research (ECR) Hub facilitated a virtual workshop for prospective grantees to provide strategies for crafting a compelling BCSER:IID proposal.
The workshop objectives were:
(1) Tailoring your project idea to develop capacity for STEM education research
(2) Crafting a one-page project description that articulates the various aspects of the ECR:BCSER IID solicitation
(3) Sharing your project idea to solicit useful and implementable feedback to revise your project idea

On March 7, 2023, NSF's Directorate for STEM Education (EDU) celebrated the ECR program's 10th anniversary by welcoming former Assistant Directors Dr. Joan Ferrini-Mundy and Dr. Karen Marrongelle to join the current Assistant Director, Dr. James L. Moore III in sharing their perspectives on the origins, growth, and future of this important program.
