Orientation for ECR PIs on Managing NSF Grants

Hear from program officers with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) as they share insights on managing NSF EDU Core Research (ECR) grants, including BCSER Individual Investigator Development (IID), ECR-CAREER, and ECR:Core awards. Topics will include submitting annual reports to NSF, building relationships with NSF program officers (such as when and how to reach out), understanding what project changes require prior NSF approval, and exercising the freedoms allowed PIs in the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG). Ample time will be provided for questions.

About the seriesThe Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Activities pursued by early-career faculty should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research.

2024 NSF ECR Principal Investigator (PI) Meeting

Mark your calendars! The 2024 Principal Investigator (PI) Meeting for active NSF EDU Core Research (ECR) projects will occur May 28–30, 2024, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia. Start time: 4pm ET on May 28End time: 2pm ET on May 30The meeting will allow ECR PIs (with awards ending May 2024 or later) to meet NSF program officers, network with other grantees, and gather new ideas for future NSF proposals.

Application Deadline for NSF QRM Scholars Program

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Quantitative Research Methods for STEM Education (QRM) Scholars Program pairs early-career education researchers with quantitative mentors to help develop skills in design, measurement, and analysis. The program includes a year-long training that includes a 3-day virtual Fall Institute (Sept. 27, 28, & Oct. 4, 2024) and a 2-day in-person Winter Institute (Jan. 31 & Feb.1, 2025), on-going live-stream workshops, and one-on-one research support with the assigned quantitative mentor.
