Dr. David Miller is the lead Principal Investigator (PI) for the ECR Hub, guiding its overall vision and strategy across tasks. Dr. Miller received his PhD in psychology from Northwestern University and is currently a senior STEM education researcher at the American Institutes for Research (AIR), while also leading two ECR synthesis projects on gender diversity in STEM.   

Dr. Roni Ellington is a co-PI of the ECR Hub and a task lead for the Broadening Participation in ECR core. She currently is a professor of mathematics education at Morgan State University and the Principal investigator of the BCSER Methodology Institute: Maryland Collaborative for Research in Urban STEM Education (MD-CRUSE). 

Danielle Ferguson is the co-PI of the ECR Hub, co-leading the broadening participation in ECR and cross-hub collaboration tasks. She received her EdD in Science Education from Morgan State University. Ferguson is currently the STEM business development lead at the American Institutes for Research and is the Principal Investigator of DRK-12’s Evidence Quality and Reach Hub (EQR Hub) and the Institute for African American Mentoring in Computing (IAAMCS) Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) Alliance. 

Dr. Emma Cohen is the project director for the ECR Hub, overseeing operations and project management. As a Senior Researcher at American Institutes for Research, Emma has served as research staff and project director for multiple NSF ECR -funded systematic reviews and meta-analyses. A sociologist, Emma’s research has focused on postsecondary education, using and contributing to large-scale national longitudinal studies to generate evidence on students’ college pathways, experiences, and outcomes. 

Dr. Bharati B. Belwalkar leads the synthesis and analysis of ECR project data to better understand the ECR research portfolio. She currently serves as a senior industrial and organizational (I/O) researcher at AIR and leads projects involving the use of AI and data science. Her research interests revolve around the intersection of assessment, technology, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and she has contributed to more than 30 publications and conference proceedings in these areas, including peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Personality Assessment, Personnel Psychology, The Industrial and Organizational Psychologist, and The Cambridge Handbook of Technology and Employee Behavior.

Laura Shankland leads network building and relationships among current ECR grantees. In her work at AIR, Shankland convenes grantees at national, state, and local levels, facilitating diverse groups of stakeholders in setting and achieving priorities for their teams. She also serves as deputy director on the Coaching with Impact Education and Innovation Research grant. 

Terri Pigott is leading efforts to support the BCSER Research Institutes funded by NSF, assisting with recruitment and exploring collaborative activities. Terri Pigott received her PhD in Measurement, Evaluation and Statistical Analysis from the University of Chicago and is currently Professor at Georgia State University with a joint appointment in the School of Public Health and the College of Education and Human Development.
